Family Medical Obstetrics Physician

Job Summary:

The Family Medical Obstetrics Physician (FMOB Physician) is a member of cross-disciplinary team that includes health care providers, medical assistants, nurses, behavioral health providers, and other support staff. The FMOB Provider supports the mission and values of Maple City Health Care Center (MCHCC) by providing primary care and obstetric care to patients of all ages and genders. The FMOB provider is a family physician who has completed a surgical OB fellowship.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides OB care and newborn care for MCHCC patients in clinic and at Goshen Hospital
  • Provides primary care for MCHCC patients in clinic
  • Provides clinical leadership for the care team in which they are located
  • Serves as a collaborating physician on collaborative practice agreements for nurse practitioners and midwives
  • Shares in OB and newborn call with other physicians and nurse-midwives
  • Provides backup to nurse-midwives at Goshen Hospital
  • Facilitate bilingual Centering Pregnancy groups with OB nurses
  • Utilizes EMR in patient care
  • Utilizes multiple resources for MCHCC communication
  • Utilizes multiple resources for Goshen Hospital communication
  • Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish preferred, training supported
  • Trauma Informed Care approach preferred, training supported
  • Motivational Interviewing training preferred, training supported
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills

Education and Experience:

  • Physician’s license to practice in the State of Indiana required
  • DEA registration required
  • State of Indiana license to prescribe controlled substances (CSR)
  • Board certification (ex: ABFM)
  • NRP required
  • BLS required
  • ALSO required
  • Credentials for surgical OB privileges at Goshen Hospital, may be obtained through MCHCC after hire
  • Credentials for newborn privileges at Goshen Hospital, may be obtained through MCHCC after hire

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to perform prolonged or extensive standing and walking
  • Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
  • Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this work
